This past Wednesday, Corey, David and Jonathan Volk put together a free live webinar entitled PPV 123. I just downloaded the recorded version and watched it in its entirety. Although, it was geared more towards PPV newbies, there were a few cool tricks shared that any PPV marketer will be able to take advantage of. Here is the outline of what was discussed:

What is PPV Marketing?

Benefits of PPV

PPV Networks

PPV Potential

Automatic niche research

What Makes A Good PPV Landing Page

How Can You Automate Building a PPV Campaign

Q & A

One of the cool things shown was Corey’s demonstration of Affportal’s Pop This! PPV Landing Page Builder. I have not tried it yet, but I am certainly going to give the tool a spin after seeing how it works. It’s a cool addition to the Affportal toolset that allows you to build PPV landing pages really quickly. If you don’t have any html/css skills or just hate designing landing pages yourself, I think you’re really going to be impressed with it.

If you were on the fence about joining AffPortal/PPV Playbook, I thought this webinar showed off the PPV expertise that Corey and David bring to the table. PPV is blowing up these days and David mentioned that the PPV Playbook forums now has over 600 members. It has become the go-to place for PPV marketers to learn from as there are relatively few good PPV resources currently available. There’s going to be a lot of growth in the PPV space over the next couple of years so you definitely don’t want to be left behind.

The entire PPV 123 webinar is about 90 minutes long and you can download it via RapidShare. (124mb) Since this webinar was intended for Jonathan Volk’s free affiliate guide subscribers, grab your copy of it here. There’s also some decent PPV info in his book as well.

I’ve talked about both these sites on this blog, and I was happy to read today that AffPortal and PPV Playbook are going to merge. This is fantastic news for us PPV marketers as both sites complement each other perfectly. AffPortal with its amazing set of PPV tools and PPV Playbook with its thriving CPV community. Both Corey and David are great guys, who each have a ton of CPV knowledge to share. When the merger is finalized, the price of the combined service is probably going to be $77 a month. Corey is taking care of the existing AffPortal members though, and they will still be locked in at the $37 a month price. Since this is just a pre-announcement, I think you still have a chance to get in at the $37 a month price. If you’ve been on the fence about joining either AffPortal or PPV Playbook, this is a great opportunity to be a part of both at a great price. So don’t miss out.

On a related note, Corey and David are also teaming up to do an 8 week live webinar series called PPV123. Their first webinar is completely free, and it will be held tomorrow, Feb 4th at 9pm PST. Although this first session is targeted towards beginners, they are going to reveal a secret technique that nobody is using currently with PPV. So go register yourself for the webinar and see what it’s all about.

When trying to find url targets to use in my PPV campaigns, the first thing I do is use one of the Affportal url scrapers and generate a long list of urls. However, not every url is worth using. If a url target doesn’t get much traffic in general then you probably won’t get much traffic from PPV either. A decent rule of thumb is to look for any sites that have an Alexa rank of less than 250k which is the guideline I have been using myself. So the tedious part for me when setting up my campaigns is to take each of the urls that Affportal gives me an input it in Alexa. Until now…

Corey just added an awesome new scraper called *BETA* Batch URL Scraper with Alexa & Quantcast Data to the Affportal site and it does just what you think. In addition to returning each url in the results, you also get back the Alexa and Quantcast traffic ranking data. So now you can see at a glance which url targets get enough traffic to put into your CPV campaigns.

Here’s an example run I did for the keyword Learn Ballroom.

This is totally useful and will save me a ton of time moving forward. Corey also mentioned that he just imported the top 15,000 sites according to Compete.com into the system so look for some Affportal tools to take advantage of this data in the near future.

Take the Affportal 7 Day Trial

In my previous post, I talked about the PPV Playbook ebook which I recommended for learning CPV. For those looking for more real-time coaching, David also has a private PPV Playbook forum where you can learn PPV from David and a growing and enthusiastic community. Since the PPV landscape is constantly changing, this is probably the most effective way to learn.

As part of this private PPV membership you get:

PPV Video Lessons put together by David

Actual PPV Campaign Case Studies

Landing Page reviews

Private tutoring and coaching with David

I really like David’s teaching style so far, but any forum is only as good as its members. Although the PPV Playbook forums are relatively new, its growing quite fast and it just recently passed the 100 member mark. There are some high powered affiliates on the site including Corey from Affportal, Barman (ppc.bz), Ryan Eagle (EWA), Jonathan Volk, and several others. Everyone on the site is very helpful, and I’ve already learned several new tips and tricks that I’ve started to implement in my own campaigns. Especially useful so far are the case studies and the landing page reviews. The feedback you can get on your campaigns is worth the price of admission alone.

If you’re interested in joining the PPV Playbook forums, it will cost you $39.95 a month. Anybody struggling with PPV should seriously consider taking a look for at least a month. I’ve personally learned quite a bit so far, and I’m convinced you will easily learn more than enough to pay for your monthly membership.

Unlike with pay per click, there are not too many guides on making money with PPV/CPV. Sure, there’s Guaher Chaudhry’s PPV Formula Product (which is currently closed) and you will sometimes find some useful tidbits talked about on forums like WarriorForum or WickedFire. However, I recently came across an excellent ebook called the PPV Playbook which I’ve found to be a great complement to the Affportal tools. Used some of the tips I’ve picked up from the book, I’ve been having some really good success with my more recent PPV campaigns. That’s the reason why I wanted to writeup a quick PPV Playbook review for you guys.

The PPV Playbook is a 22 page ebook written by David Ford. If you haven’t heard of him before, make sure to go and check out his blog and his guest post over at JonathanVolk.com. He actually gives some great PPV tips for free on his blog, so its worth subscribing for anyone interested in learning more about PPV.

The book itself is divided into 6 parts. In the first part of the book, David gives an introduction to PPV, including his top 10 PPV traffic sources. In Part 2, he goes into the steps needed to setup a profitable PPV campaign. Aspects like selecting an offer, researching demographics and finding urls to bid on are discussed in great detail. Part 3 is probably the section of the book that I found most helpful. This is where he discusses landing pages and direct linking with CPV. There are some awesome tips here for quickly designing converting landing pages, and also how to collect emails and pre-pop lead forms. Finally Parts 4 and 5 discusses bidding strategies and tracking and the last section of the book gives away six niches that David himself is making good money with.

What I really like about the book is that David picks an actual offer and walks through his entire thought process on how he goes about promoting it using PPV. I’m using some of his strategies on my own landing pages for example, and I’m personally noticing a dramatic improvement in the conversions on my own campaigns. Just a few simple tweaks can be the difference between a profitable and unprofitable campaign.

The PPV Playbook costs $47 and is a really well written guide for people wanting to start making money with PPV/Contextual advertising. It also comes with a money back guarantee if you don’t like it for some reason. For those of you who are more visual learners, the book also includes a link to several videos that David has put together to cover specific topics in more detail. After finishing the book, you will have the knowledge of what it takes to setup a successful PPV campaign. If you are an Affportal member, I recommend that you check out the PPV Playbook as I think it will help you out a lot.

Just go the news that Corey has completed the Affportal-Wordze integration. Now when you login to your Affportal account, you will have access to both Wordze and Landing Page Classroom on the sidebar. A normal Wordze subscription costs $38.98 a month, and we’re getting it for free which is completely awesome. I’ve been playing around with some of the Wordze tools and I’m really enjoying them. Here are so of my favorites so far.

Wordrank Report – Wordrank is Wordze’s proprietary formula for calculating the difficulty of ranking well for a particular keyword. It looks at factors such as number of links to the domain, domain age, and number of results. It’s a good idea to avoid targeting keywords that are too hard to rank for, and I’m definitely going to start using this before launching any future sites.

History tool – This tool lets you see the trends of a particular keyword. Good for making sure that you are targeting a trend on the way up and not the way down.

Keyword Density – Enter in a website, and this tool will return you a list of one-word, two-word and three-word keywords from your chosen website. This is useful for optimizing the keyword density of the keywords on your own site. Plus I see it as a useful way to finding additional keywords to target for both PPC and CPV campaigns as well.

Adwords Search (beta) – Search for ads on Google Adwords by a domain or keyword. This is a nifty little tool for seeing what your competition is up to, and what ad copy and keywords they are targeting. It doesn’t seem to return results for all the domains I tried searching for yet, but there’s enormous potential here.

This is just a few of the Wordze tools I just tried playing with. Wordze offers several others that you should definitely take a look at as well. Now that Affportal has teamed up with Wordze, we have tools for CPV, PPC and SEO. All of them incredibly useful, and all of them will help start making you some money. If you aren’t onboard yet, make sure to check out the 7 day trial and try these tools out for yourself. Personally, I can’t wait to see what Corey comes up with next.

Affportal members just got an early Christmas present today. Corey has partnered up with Andrew Payne’s Landing Page Classroom membership which means we now have access to both sites using a single login. So in addition to all the great Affportal tools, we now have available to us over 125 professionally designed landing pages. These include niches like Dating, BizOpps, Diet, and some really cool looking Squeeze Pages. New landing pages are added each month as well which makes this a fantastic value. Especially for those of us who can’t design a good looking landing page to save our life.

I’ve briefly browsed through some of the available LPs, and they look pretty damn good. I think they are mainly intended to be used as review style pages which I’ve personally have had some great success with. Here are some examples.

<img style="margin-right:10px"src="images/datingLP.jpg" alt="Dating Landing Page" />

Membership to LandingPageClassroom is normally $47 a month, and we’re now getting it free as part of our $37 a month Affportal membership. Corey has also promised a partnership with Wordze so look for that very soon. I’ve used Wordze in the past and it is a kick ass keyword research tool. With all these changes going on, make sure to lock in your $37/month rate before Corey decides to bump up the price to reflect the added value of Affportal.

I’m always on the lookout for the latest and greatest cost per view (CPV) tools, so when I read Justin Dupre’s post about AffPortal, I was very intrigued and decided to take the 7 day trial. If you have ever made money with PPV then you know that obtaining a good url scraper is the first thing you need to do. Affportal fills the need with a several different url scrapers along with a boatload of other PPV and PPC tools. Affportal is actually a paid membership site where you have to login to use the tools. Currently the site hosts 16 different tools, 9 CPV tools and 7 pay per click tools. I haven’t made use of all of the tools yet, but let me describe a few of my favorite ones so far.

Smart URL Scraper – This tool makes building CPV campaigns a breeze. Just enter in a url (like your offer landing page) and the tool will find 5 related keywords from the site and scrape the related urls for each of these keywords. For example, I entered the url http://singlesnet.com and it returned to me the keywords “free online dating”, “online dating”, “dating site”, “dating service” and “dating sites”. From those 5 keywords, the tool returned to me 80 related urls that I could build my CPV campaign with. The tool is flexible enough so that you can edit any of the keywords it returns and you can also configure the country it returns its results from.

Site Extractor – Sometimes the bids for the root url you are targeting is just way too high. What do you do in that situation? You bid on the internal urls instead. You can usually get 1 cent views for internal urls which is what makes the Site Extractor tool extremely valuable. Just enter one or more domains in the box, and the tool will scrape all the indexed internal urls of each site.

Top Million Quantcast & Alexa URL Database – This tool is great and super easy to use. As the title suggests, this tool contains the top million most popular websites from both Alexa and Quantcast (updated weekly). Just enter in a keyword and the tool will return to you all the related urls from its database. This saves you from wasting your time bidding on urls with little or no traffic.

Adwords Sniper – This is one of the pay per click tools available on Affportal. It has similar functionality to tools you’ll find in more expensive products like Keyword Elite 2.0. Use this tool to find sites related to your keyword that contain Adsense ads. With the resulting urls, you can target placements using your own Google content network campaigns.

This is just a sampling of some of the CPV and PPC tools available on AffPortal. If you are interested in giving them a try, you can take the 7 day trial for just $4.95. After that, a membership on Affportal will run you $37 a month. Do what I did -take the trial, login to your TrafficVance or MediaTraffic account and setup a couple of CPV campaigns right now using the tools mentioned above. Then just evaluate the results and determine whether or not an Affportal membership is right for you.
